WEST CHESTER, PA -- With 6:47 left
in the second overtime, junior Kelly Coyle
(Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) clinched the victory with
an unassisted goal as the University of Delaware field
hockey team upended host West Chester in a non-conference
game Wednesday evening.
Freshman Lauren Carr (West
Chester, PA/Downingtown), playing in front of a hometown
crowd, got Delaware (7-3, 2-2) on the board 11:12 into the
first half. The Rams (6-4) would answer back, as sophomore
Liz Morrow evened the score with 3:52 left in the first half
For Coyle, the game-winning score was her
first goal on the season, and only the second of her
career.
In goal, freshman Heidi Hibshman
recorded a season high nine saves, as she went the distance
to get her second victory, snapping a two-game slide for the
Blue Hens.
Delaware travels to Albany for an America
East match-up on Friday October 5.
