Carol Miller Earns
200th Career Win in Blue Hen
Victory
NEWARK, DE -- The University of
Delaware field hockey team defeated the Drexel Dragons
Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association action,
4-1, at Rullo Stadium.
The win marked the 200th in the career of
Delaware head coach Carol Miller, In nine seasons as coach
of the Blue Hens, she has a record of 114-82.
Sophomore Lauren Carr (West Chester,
PA) opened the scoring at the 18:15 mark of the first
half for Delaware (9-9, 3-3 CAA), banging home her second
goal in as many games to give the Blue Hens a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Erica LaBar (New Castle, DE) added her
team-leading 10th goal of the season just before the end of
the half to give the Blue Hens a two-goal halftime cushion.
Sophomore Leah Geib (Schwenksville,
PA) and junior Jessica Breault (Southbury, CT)
added second-half goals for Delaware, who has won three
of its last four games after dropping four in a
row.
Julie Gahman scored the lone goal for
Drexel, spoiling the shutout bid for senior Stephanie
Judefind (Wilmington, DE). Both Judefind and Drexel
goalkeeper Katie Dougherty made four saves in the
game.
The Blue Hens conclude the 2002 regular
season this Tuesday when they travel to Virginia to take on
Virginia Commonwealth in a contest with playoff implications
for both teams. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
