Leopards Stuns Blue
Hens With Three Unanswered Goals
NEWARK, DE -- Megan Monahan scored
at the 96:04 mark of the second overtime session to complete
Lafayette's comeback and defeat Delaware 3-2, in overtime
field hockey action Tuesday night at Rullo
Stadium.

Balmer's second-half goal gave Delaware a 2-0
lead

The Blue Hens (6-8) jumped out to a 2-0
lead on a first-half penalty stroke goal by senior Kim
Wagaman (Oley, PA/Oley Valley Regional) and extended
their lead to 2-0 midway through the second half on a goal
by sophomore Jessi Balmer (Telford, PA/Christopher
Dock).
Lafayette proceeded to rally with two
goals in the final 15 minutes of action to send the game to
overtime. Melissa Farrand cut the Leopard's deficit to 2-1
with a goal at the 57:23 mark. Lafayette then tied the game
with just under two minutes left in regulation time on a
goal by Meredith Hahn at 68:39.
Sophomore Erica LaBar (New Castle,
DE/William Penn), who assisted on the Blue Hens second
goal, posted six shots on the night. She now leads Delaware
with 22 points (7g, 8a).
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind
(Wilmington DE/Concord) made seven saves in the loss,
while Lafayette goalkeeper Casey Devlin made 10 saves.
The Blue Hens return to action on Friday
when they travel to Virginia to take on Colonial Athletic
Association rival James Madison at 7 p.m.
