Blue Hens Notch First Win Over Ranked Team Since 2000

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Sophomore Erica LaBar (New Castle, DE/William Penn) scored with just under 13 minutes left in regulation time to propel No. 20 University of Delaware to a 3-2 non-league win over No. 4 ranked Louisville Sunday afternoon.

The win marked the Blue Hens' first win over a ranked team since defeating No. 14 Northeastern, 1-0, in 2000 and the highest ranked team Delaware had defeated since 1987, when they knocked off No. 3 Penn State, 2-0.

Kim Hughes of Louisville opened the scoring at 18:25, scoring on a penalty stroke, before Delaware fought back to tie the game at one on a goal by sophomore Leah Geib (Schwenksville, PA/Souderton) off a feed from LaBar. Senior Kim Wagaman (Oley, PA/Oley Valley Regional) capped the first-half scoring, converting Delaware's first penalty stroke of the season to give the Blue Hens a 2-1 lead. Hughes second goal tied the game at 2-2 before LaBar struck with the game winner at 57:47.
