Unanswered Goals Down Blue Hens
PRINCETON, NJ -- The University of
Delaware field hockey team was defeated by Princeton
University, 5-1, Wednesday evening in New Jersey.
Jessi Balmer (Telford, PA/Christopher
Dock) scored her sixth goal of the season in the first
half to give the Blue Hens an early 1-0 lead. Princeton then
scored the next five goals, including two by IIvy Friebe,
who also added two assists.
Senior Kim Wagaman (Oley, PA/Oley)
picked up her seventh assist of the season on Balmer's
goal, tying her with sophomore Erica LaBar (New Castle,
DE/William Penn) for the team lead.
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind
(Wilmington, DE) made two saves, while sophomore
Heidi Hibshman (Lititz, PA/Warwick) entered the game
in the second half and recorded one for Delaware
(6-6).
The Blue Hens return to action this
Sunday when they travel to Maryland to battle Colonial
Athletic Association rival Towson. Game time is set for 1
p.m.
