LaBar's Second
Game-Winning Goal in Two Games Downs
Spiders
NEWARK, DE -- Junior Erica LaBar (New
Castle, DE/William Penn) scored off a penalty corner at 6:08
of the first overtime to lift Delaware to a 2-1 win over the
Richmond Spiders.
Senior captain Kelly Coyle
(Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) passed the ball into
fellow senior Kim Wagaman (Oley, PA/Oley Valley Regional),
who set up LaBar's third goal of the season and second
game-winner in as many games. She also scored the lone
Delaware goal in Friday night's 1-0 win over
Villanova.
Richmond (1-2) tied the score at 1-1 on a
goal by Lydia Decembrino off a penalty corner after
regulation time had expired to force overtime.
Sophomore Jesse Balmer (Telford,
PA/Christopher Dock) opened the scoring at the 18:25 mark of
the second half for Delaware, knocking a loose ball past
Richmond goalkeeper Michelle Swartz.
Delaware goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind
(Wilmington, DE/Concord) made two saves, while teammate
Heidi Hibschman (Lititz, PA/Warwick) stopped one shot.
The loss was Richmond's second
consecutive OT defeat, as the Spiders fell to Villanova on
Saturday afternoon, 3-2.
The Blue Hens (3-1) return to action this
Tuesday evening when they take on LaSalle. Game time is set
for 7 p.m.
