Franks Goal Upends Blue Hens

TOWSON, MD -- Brandi Franks scored just over four minutes into the second half to give Towson University a 2-1 win over the University of Delaware field hockey team Sunday afternoon at Towson.

The loss was the first-ever for the Blue Hens (6-7, 0-2 CAA) against the Tigers, as they entered the contest with an all-time record of 24-0-1 against Towson.

Julie Lambi gave Towson an early 1-0 lead, scoring off a penalty corner midway through the first half, before junior Erin Shaklee (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) scored the only goal for Delaware at the 26:40 mark of the first half, tying the score at 1-1. Sophomore Leah Geib (Schwenksville, PA/Souderton) picked up an assist on the play, her third of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind (Wilmington, DE/Concord) made five saves in the loss, while Towson goalkeeper Loren Wolf also made five.

The Blue Hens return to action this Tuesday when they welcome Lehigh to town. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Rullo Stadium
