Blue Hens Clinch
First-Ever CAA Tournament Berth
RICHMOND, VA -- Sophomore Erica
LaBar (New Castle, DE) scored midway through the
second-half to give the University of Delaware field hockey
team a 1-0 win over Virginia Commonwealth Tuesday afternoon
in Richmond, VA.
Sophomore Jessica Breault (Southbury,
CT) picked up the lone assist on LaBar's team-leading
11th goal of the season and has nine points in her last
three games, all Blue Hen victories.
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind
(Wilmington, DE) made two saves en route to earning her
eighth shutout of the season and 12th career.
With the win, the Blue Hens (10-9, 4-3
CAA) clinch their first-ever Colonial Athletic Association
tournament berth and will take on No. 20 ranked William
& Mary Saturday afternoon in Norfolk, VA at Old Dominion
University Match time is 2:30 p.m. Top seed and No. 1 ranked
Old Dominion will take on No. 3 seed and 10th ranked James
Madison in the other semifinal game at 12 noon.
The title game is scheduled for Saturday
at 1 p.m. at Old Dominion with the winner earning an
automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
