September 14, 2002

LOUISVILLE, KY -- Sophomore Erica LaBar had a goal and an assist, but it was not enough as seventh-ranked Wake Forest defeated the No. 20 Blue Hens, 6-2, in field hockey action played on the campus of University of Louisville Saturday.

LaBar, last week's CAA Player of the Week, assisted on Jessi Balmer's goal with 10:53 left in the first half and later scored off a penalty corner with 15:27 left in the second half to raise her team-leading total to 12 points on the season (5g, 2a).

However, it was not enough to overcome two-goal games by Ariel Meyers and Kelly Dostal. Dostal also added an assist.

The Demon Deacons (3-2) outshot Delaware, 16-2, and held an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Delaware (4-2) will face fourth-ranked Louisville on Sunday at 1 p.m.
