NORFOLK, VA -- Three goals in the final
10:40 snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the 20th-ranked Tribe of
William & Mary past Delaware, 4-1, in semifinal action
at the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey
Tournament.
William & Mary, 12-7 overall and
winners of nine straight, will take on No. 1 Old Dominion in
Sunday afternoon's title game. The Lady Monarchs thumped No.
9 James Madison, 14-1, in Saturday's first semifinal
game.
William & Mary, which defeated
Delaware in double-overtime during the regular season, took
a 1-0 lead when Annie Ekberg scored unassisted 9:58 into the
game.
Delaware's Kelly Coyle tied the game
early in the second half. Coyle scored off a feed from
Lauren Carr 7:21 into the second half to make it a 1-1

However, Ekberg, who scored twice in the
teams' regular season meeting, scored her second goal of the
afternoon with 10:40 remaining off a pass from Jordan Steele
to give the Tribe a 2-1 lead.
Steele gave William & Mary some
insurance and made it a 3-1 game when she scored with 6:26
left off a feed from Shannon Karl.
The Tribe closed out the win when Kate
