Blue Hens Snap Four-Game Losing Skid

Junior Jessi Balmer scored twice and leads the team with 12 goals.

HEMPSTEAD, NY -- Junior Jessi Balmer scored twice and freshman goalkeeper Megan Allen made eight saves as the 17th ranked University of Delaware field hockey team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Hofstra Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association field hockey action.

Balmer opened the scoring at 20:59 of the first half, scoring on a penalty stroke to give the Blue Hens (11-6, 3-2 CAA) a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission. Her second tally came at 48:08 when she converted a feed from junior Erica LaBar for her team-high 12th goal of the season.

The Pride outshot the Hens, 14-12 while the Hens held a 9-8 advantage in penalty corners.

Delaware returns to action this Sunday when it travels to Philadelphia, PA to take on the Dragons of Drexel University. Game time it set for 7 p.m.
