Balmer Scores Twice
in Final 6:19 to Stun Huskies

NEWARK, DE -- Junior Jessi
Balmer scored twice in the final 6:19 of the second half
as the University of Delaware field hockey team stunned No.
12 Northeastern, 4-3, in action Saturday afternoon at Rullo
Stadium.
Junior All-American candidate Erica
LaBar and fellow junior Leah Geib also scored for
the Blue Hens (6-2), who captured their third straight win
and sixth in their last seven contests.
Balmer's first tally came at 63:41, as
she slammed home a rebound off a shot by LaBar on a penalty
corner, knotting the score at three all. Just 3:10 later,
Balmer converted a pass from LaBar for the
game-winner.
Delaware jumped out to an early 2-0 lead
on goals by Geib at 12:19 and LaBar at 28:20 off a feed from
senior Jessica Breault before the Huskies rallied for
three straight goals, including two by Mari Creatini, to
take a 3-2 lead.
Freshman Megan Allen made three
saves in earning her sixth win of the season, while Diana
Nelson stopped three Delaware shots for Northeastern
(5-3).
Delaware returns to action this Wednesday
when it travels to Philadelphia to take on the Owls of
Temple University. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
