Breault Propels Blue Hens to Fourth-Straight WIn

Senior Jessica Breault has three goals and six assists in 2003.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Senior tri-captain Jessica Breault scored the game winning goal with just under five minutes remaining in the first half and freshman goalkeeper Megan Allen made two saves as the No. 15 University of Delaware field hockey team won its fourth-straight game, downing Temple Wednesday afternoon, 2-1, in Philadelphia.

Junior Lauren Carr also scored for the Blue Hens (7-2), who avenged last season's overtime loss to the Owls on their home field.

Carr opened the scoring at the 6:47 mark, taking a pass from Breault and drilling a shot past Temple goalkeeper Erin Conroy to give the Hens a 1-0 lead. Breault made it 2-0 at 30:02 mark, scoring off a feed from freshman Katie Evans.

Rachel Barber scored with under four minutes left for Temple (4-5), but the UD defense frustrated the Owls all afternoon, holding them to just four shots.

Delaware returns to action on Tuesday, September 30 when it hosts LaSalle at Rullo Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
