LaBar Scores Twice to Give Hens a Treat on Halloween

Erica LaBar

NEWARK, DE -- Junior Erica LaBar scored twice and Megan Allen recorded her fifth shutout of the season as Delaware blanked Towson, 2-0, in the Fightin' Blue Hens' regular season finale.

Delaware locked up the No. 3 seed in next weekend's CAA Tournament and will face No. 2 seed William & Mary on Saturday in Norfolk, VA. Top seed Old Dominion will host No. 4 VCU in the other semifinal. The winner of the CAA Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament field of 16.

LaBar scored her 10th goal of the season with 1:03 left in the first half to give Delaware a 1-0 lead. She re-directed a ball hit by Jessi Balmer that found the back of the net.

LaBar later converted a penalty corner to give Delaware a 2-0 lead. Eight minutes into the second half, LaBar scored her 11th of the season with help from Jessica Breault and Leah Geib.

LaBar now her 33 points this season, which tied her for ninth on the UD single-season list with Missy Meharg in 1982. She also has 68 career points (23g, 22a), which tied her for 13th place all-time at Delaware.

The shutout by Allen was Delaware's third straight shutout. It is the first time since October 1999 that the Fightin' Blue Hens have recorded three straight shutouts.
