VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- University of Delaware senior midfielder Stephanie Swain (right) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association field hockey all-conference second team and freshman Tori Karsten was named to the All-Rookie Team, the CAA announced at its annual awards banquet on Friday evening in Virginia Beach.

Swain (Middletown, DE/William Penn), the team’s assistant captain, was fourth on the team with 10 points on two goals and six assists. She played in and started 17 games for the Blue Hens. Swain recorded a goal and an assist against No. 16 Michigan State in the teams season opener and scored the Blue Hens’ loan goal against No. 3 Duke.

Karsten (River Forest, IL/Oak Park River Forest) played in 18 of the team’s 19 games while starting 17. She posted Delaware’s only goal against Drexel in the team’s CAA finale and also recorded an assist in the game against Rutgers.

Caroline Nichols of Old Dominion was named the CAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while Meghan Bain of James Madison earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Delaware finished the season 7-12 overall and 3-5 in CAA play. The Hens fell in the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament to Hofstra, 2-1.
