TOWSON, MD -- Junior goalkeeper Nikki Rhoades recorded nine saves but the Blue Hens were held scoreless as the University of Delaware field hockey team fell to Towson, 2-0, in Colonial Athletic Association play Friday evening.

Delaware (6-9, 3-3 CAA) was held scoreless for the second straight game and for the third time in its last four outings. Towson improves to 9-7 and 2-3 in league play.

The Tigers got on the board first as Kim McEwen tallied her fifth goal of the season off a penalty corner 19:42 into the first half. Towson added another goal in the second half when Kajee Murangi tapped in a rebound in front of the net to post her seventh goal of the season.

The win marked only the third time in 29 meetings that Towson has beaten Delaware. The Blue Hens lead the all-time series by a 24-3-2 margin but the Tigers have won the last two games.

The Blue Hens will return to action Sunday when they travel to No. 16 James Madison for a 1 p.m. start time. Delaware has three wins over ranked teams this season.
