NEWARK, DE -- Casey Howard and Missy Woodie both posted multi-point efforts to lead the University of Delaware field hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Bucknell at Rullo Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The victory marked the sixth straight for the Blue Hens, which is the most consecutive wins to start a season since the squad opened with seven straight victories in 1994.

Howard posted her first multi-goal game of the season and the fourth of her career. She now leads the team with five goals and 11 points.

Freshman Missy Woodie also had a strong game, recording two assists. She now has three assists on the season after tallying one against Kent State during the Buckeye Classic.

Kimmy Schlezes (at right) opened the scoring at 4:28 in the first half after drilling home the first goal of her career. Less than four minutes later, Howard posted her first score of the game off of a pass from Woodie.

After halftime, Woodie connected with Tori Karsten for the third goal of the game. With the goal, Karsten extended her personal scoring streak to three straight games after she posted a single goal against Longwood on Sunday and two against Rutgers yesterday.

Trailing by three, Bucknell quickly cut the deficit to one after Lindsey Weller scored with 16 minutes left in the game and Sarah Herrmann added her first of the season just over a minute later.

Howard answered the Bison attack after scoring off of a pass from Amanda Warrington with less than eight minutes to go in the contest. For Warrington, it was her team-leading fourth assist.

Delaware outshot Bucknell, 24-8, and held a slim 5-4 advantage in penalty corners.

The Blue Hens return to action on Wednesday at 6 p.m. when they face Monmouth at Rullo Stadium.
