NEWARK, Del. -- Sophomore Pam Aldridge had a hand in both goals, assisting on a first-half tally and scoring one on her own late in the game, as Northeastern toppled host University of Delaware 2-0 in a Colonial Athletic Association field hockey game Friday night at Rullo Stadium.
The victory gave Northeastern head coach Cheryl Murtagh her 300th career coaching victory for the Huskies. Murtagh, now in her 21st season at Northeastern, is 300-148-10.
Delaware (3-9, 2-3 CAA) suffered its second straight loss while Northeastern (7-6, 1-2 CAA) snapped a two-game losing streak and captured its first league win of the season. Northeastern has now downed the Hens four straight times.
Despite the setback, the statistics were nearly even for the contest with NU holding slight edges in shots (12-10) and penalty corners (7-5). NU goalkeeper Colleen Duffy posted six saves to earn her third shutout of the season while Delaware netminder Nikki Rhoades stopped three shots.
Northeastern got all the scoring it would need just over 16 minutes into the game when Aldridge fired a pass from the right corner across the middle to Clayman, who stopped the ball and shot past Rhoades for her third goal of the season.
The Huskies made it 2-0 with just 3:59 left in the game off a penalty corner. Jillian Wilkes fed stopper Anne-Reike Stuhlmann who set up Aldridge for the shot from the top of the circle. The goal was the seventh of the season for Aldridge.
Delaware had several chances to score with four second-half penalty corners but could not get the ball past Duffy, who posted all six of her saves in the second half.

The Blue Hens will take on Rutgers, California, and Maryland in non-league action before returning to CAA play against Towson Oct. 26 in the regular season home finale.
