The No. 11 ranked University of Delaware field hockey team fell to No. 16 ranked Boston University Friday at Nickerson Field 3-1. Delaware fell to 15-4 on the season and 6-1 in America East play. Boston University improved to 11-7 on the year and 5-2 in conference play. The Blue Hens opened the scoring when Kelly Cawley (Oley, Pa./HS) scored her ninth goal of the season on an assist from Rachel Barger (Springfield, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS). The Terriers responded with two Tina McDavitt goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. The Terriers added a Felicia Cappabianca goal with 11 minutes remaining to put the game away. Kelly Adams (Patterson, N.Y./Brewster HS) had nine saves in a losing effort. Boston University goalkeeper Noreen Flanagan made one save for the Terriers. Even with the loss, Delaware still has a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed in the America East Tournament with a victory on Sunday at Northeastern University's Parsons Field at 1 p.m.
