The University of Delaware field hockey team
ended a two-game losing streak tonight (Saturday)
defeating Drexel University 1-0. The lone Blue Hen
came with 17:26 remaining in the game when Jodi
Byrd (Pocomoke,Md./HS) found Sara Hills
(Alexanderia, Va./St. Stephen's) open in the circle
and Hills scored to provide all the offense in this
defense affair. The game was a battle between two
of the top goalkeepers in the America East
Conference. Drexel's goalkeeper, Heather Haigh, who
ranks third in the conference in goals against
average at 1.38 made nine saves for the Dragons but
allowed the lone goal of the match. Kelly
Adams (Patterson, N.Y./Brewster HS) made six
stops for the Hens living up to her billing as the
top goalkeeper in the conference. Adams recorded
her seventh shutout on the season and the 16th for
her career.
