The University of Delaware field hockey opened the new $3.3 million Fred P. Rullo Stadium today with an 8-0 victory over Lehigh. The largest margin of victory since 1983 when Delaware defeated Towson 9-0. Sara Hills opened the scoring with five minutes into the game. Seniors Kelly Cawley and Jodi Byrd added first half goals to give Delaware a 3-0 lead going into halftime. The Blue Hens (3-1), ranked No. 19 in the country, added five goals in the second half including three goals in a 24 second span to give the Blue Hens an 8-0 margin of victory. Cawley scored her second goal of the game to open the second half scoring. Jodi Byrd followed two minutes later with her second goal of the game. Rachel Barger scored goals eight seconds apart. The first was unassisted with 5:32 remaining. The second goal came off of a penalty corner and was assisted by Megan Fortunato and Mia Callahan Freshman Jenn Fotiou closed the scoring for the Blue Hens.
