Senior Alexis Goldsborough scored three goals, senior Kelly Cawley dished out three assists, and the University of Delaware held Ursinus without a shot on goal as the Blue Hens opened the 1998 field hockey season with a 6-0 non-league victory Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Hens (1-0), ranked No. 19 in the nation, scored three goals in each half to win their third straight season opener. Goldsborough, a graduate of William Penn HS who entered the season with just two career goals, scored with eight minutes left in the first half and added two goals in the final 16 minutes of the game to pace the Blue Hens. Senior Jodi Byrd started the scoring just four minutes into the game for the Blue Hens. Junior Katie Wirth and freshman Kate Johnson also scored in the victory. Cawley, who set a school record with 21 assists last season, dished out three assists for the fourth time in her career.
