The No. 6 ranked University of Delaware field hockey team ran its winning streak to seven games today (Friday) defeating the University of Vermont 4-0 at Rullo Stadium. This is Delaware's longest winning streak since 1995. Freshman Juli Byrd scored her first career goal, nine minutes into the game off of a penatly corner. Kelly Cawley and Sara Hills assisted on the goal. Megan Fortunato added her first goal of the season, eight minutes later. Katie Wirth started the second half scoring with her first goal of the year ninety-two seconds into the period. Mia Callahan scored seven minutes later on a crossing pass from Juli Byrd. Kelly Adams and Kelly Ottati combined on the Blue Hens sixth shutout of the season. The Blue Hens have allowed just two goals during the seven game winning streak. Delaware returns to action this Sunday when they face America East rival Towson University at noon at Rullo Stadium.
