2004: Second-year team member who will battle Missouri transfer Sonny Riccio for starting quarterback spot vacated by the graduation of All-American, Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, and Philadelphia Eagle draft pick Andy Hall...outstanding talent with a good knowledge of the game and the Blue Hen offensive system...has good arm despite 5-11, 210 lb. size...connected on 5 of 7 passes for 36 yards and one touchdown in spring game...

2003: Earned backup quarterback spot behind Andy Hall in pre-season and was No. 2 the entire season...appeared in eight games, seeing action vs. The Citadel, Richmond, West Chester, Rhode Island, Villanova, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa, and the NCAA championship game win over Colgate...connected on 8 of 17 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown and rushed 18 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns...rushed twice for 14 yards and scored a touchdown in collegiate debut vs. The Citadel, hit on 3 of 4 passes for 43 yards and rushed for nine yards vs. Richmond, rushed twice for 42 yards and a touchdown vs. West Chester, hit on 3 of 5 passes for 42 yards and rushed for 23 yards vs. Rhode Island, and hit on 2 of 4 passes for 19 yards and a touchdown in NCAA playoff win over Southern Illinois...played most of fourth quarter in NCAA championship game win over Colgate and saw extensive first half action vs. Villanova when Hall left the game with a separated shoulder...had season-long 30-yard rush vs. West Chester and season-long 26-yard pass vs. Richmond, both which went for touchdowns...earned spot on Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team...hit on 3 of 6 passes for 17 yards in spring game...

2002: Spent most of season as No. 3 quarterback on depth chart but did not see action as a true freshman...moved up to top backup in season finale vs. Villanova when Andy Hall was out with a shoulder injury...retained freshman eligibility...

High School Honors: One of the top quarterbacks in the state in 2001 at Somerville High School for his father and head coach Kevin Carty...earned Associated Press first team All-State honors as a senior when he completed 220 of 390 passes for a school record 3,504 yards and a state record 43 touchdowns...two-year starter who hit on 374 of 679 passes for 5,779 yards and 65 touchdowns, all school records...played wide receiver as a sophomore...named to New Jersey Football Coaches Association Super 100 All-State team...area Offensive Player of the Year by the Bridgewater Courier News and county Offensive Player of the Year by the Newark Star-Ledger...first team all-conference, all-area, and all-county selection...also honored by the Downtown Athletic Club as a High School Heisman Tri-State All-Star...played baseball as a catcher and designated hitter...honor roll student and school's Freshman Student of the Year...

Personal: Ryan David Carty...born Aug. 9, 1983...son of Kevin and Shirley Carty...honor student as a consumer economics major...father Kevin, is a high school football coach and played football at the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State) in 1968-71; brother, Kevin, played quarterback at North Carolina and William & Mary in 1997-00; and brother, Sean, played football at Rutgers...mother is a physical education teacher.
