Appeared in seven games in a reserve role
and on special teams but did not earn a
varsity letter...appeared in games vs. The
Citadel, Richmond, West Chester, William
& Mary, Southern Illinois, Northern
Iowa, and Colgate...did not catch a
pass...caught one pass for seven yards in

2002:
Left team for personal reasons during
pre-season camp in August but returned for
spring drills...retained freshman

tight ends at nearby Newark High School
under head coach Butch Simpson...led
Newark to its fifth straight state title
and to its 34th straight win in
2001...ranked 50th best tight end in the
nation by Rivals.comwebsite...three-time

end...earned honorable mention All-State
honors at defensive end as a junior in
2000 and was second team at both tight end
and defensive end as a senior in
2001...caught 14 passes for 168 yards and
two touchdowns and had 10 tackles for loss

honors in baseball as a junior and a
senior at Newark as a pitcher and first
baseman...three-year varsity
