Blue Hens Selected to ECAC All-East

University of Delaware and Ivy League
titlist Harvard each placed four players
on the Eastern College Athletic Conference
All-East I-AA Football first team
announced Tuesday by the ECAC.
Delaware,
the 2003 national champion which posted a
record of 9-4, shared the Atlantic 10
title with William & Mary and national
champion James Madison, and advanced to
the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals in 2004,
placed senior offensive tackle Trip
DelCampo, senior defensive lineman Chris
Mooney, junior defensive lineman Tom
Parks, and senior middle linebacker Mondoe
Davis (at right) on the first team.
A total of
37 student-athletes from ECAC member
schools were selected to the first team
and honorable mention squads. The teams
were selected from a vote of ECAC member
sports information directors and head
coaches. The ECAC includes all schools in
the Atlantic 10, Ivy League, Northeast
Conference, and Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference. The Atlantic 10 placed a high
of 18 players on the teams, including ECAC
Player of the Year quarterback Lang
Campbell of William & Mary and ECAC
Rookie of the Year quarterback Ricky
Santos from New Hampshire.
Delaware
has now placed at least four players on
the All-East first team eight times since
1973, including an all-time high nine
selections in 1979 when the Blue Hens
captured the NCAA Division II title.
Delaware last placed four players on the
first team in 2000.
DelCampo
(Cape Henlopen/Rehoboth, DE), Mooney
(Huntington/Huntington, NY), Parks (North
Allegheny/Pittsburgh, PA), and Davis
(Woodside/Newport News, VA) each also
earned first team All-Atlantic 10 honors
earlier this year while Mooney was named
third team The Sports Network All-American
and Parks was named third team The Sports
Network All-American and third team
Associated Press All-American.
DelCampo,
a two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection who
started all 29 games at tackle over the
last two seasons, led a Blue Hen offense
that averaged 26.5 points and 380.0 total
yards per game this season.
Mooney,
who also earned ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA
second team Academic All-American honors
this fall, was a three-time All-Atlantic
10 selection who recorded 42 tackles this
season, including 26 solo stops, 11
tackles for loss, and 6.5 quarterback
sacks. He also broke up three passes and
recovered two fumbles.
Parks led
all Blue Hen down linemen in tackles with
48 this season, including 29 solo stops,
and led all Atlantic 10 players with 10
sacks for 56 yards while also making a
team-high 15.5 tackles for loss. He also
had two pass breakups.
Davis, a
three-year starter and two-year
All-Atlantic 10 selection, led the Blue
Hens in tackles for the second straight
season in 2004, posting 123 tackles,
including 75 solo stops. He also had 7.5
tackles for loss, two sacks, two
interceptions, five pass breakups, and
three forced fumbles. He posted a school
record eight career forced fumbles and
ranks No. 6 on the Delaware career tackles
list with 342.
