Date:
December 11, 2004
NEW HAVEN,
CT -- University of Delaware senior
cornerback and co-captain Sidney
Haugabrook (at right), who capped an
outstanding career by leading the Blue
Hens to the Atlantic 10 Conference title
and a berth in the NCAA I-AA football
quarterfinals this fall, has been named to
the Walter Camp Football Foundation first
team All-American squad announced
Friday.
Haugabrook,
a 5-10, 185 lb. consumer economics major
from Atlanta, GA (Woodward Academy), was
one of 25 players honored in voting
conducted by NCAA I-AA sports information
directors and head football coaches. He
was one of five Atlantic 10 players
honored on the team. He also becomes the
first Blue Hen cornerback to earn
All-American honors since Ken Lucas earned
third team Associated Press honors in 1986
and the first to earn first team honors
since George Schmitt was honored by the
Associated Press in 1982.
The Walter
Camp team was the first All-American team
announced this season. The Sports Network,
American Football Coaches Association, and
Associated Press all plan to announce
their All-American teams next week.

overtime.
He posted
67 tackles on the season, including 65
solo stops, and added 2.5 tackles for

most feared kick returners, he averaged
11.4 yards on 27 punt returns, returning
two for touchdowns, and averaged 27.0
