DOVER, Del. -- The University of Delaware and Delaware State University football programs will match-up again Monday, August 11, but this time it won’t be on the playing field.
It will take place in the kitchen.
Delaware head coach K.C. Keeler (at right) and DelState mentor Al Lavan will go head-to-head in a celebrity Dover Downs is Cooking cook-off for charity at the Dover Downs Hotel and Convention Rollins Center at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Each coach has been asked to prepare dishes using a variety of ingredients that will be judged in a number of categories. WJBR 99.5 FM radio personality Michael Waite will serve as host.
Proceeds from the event will go to each coaches' selected charity - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware for Keeler and IMPACT Delaware Tobacco Prevention Coalition for Lavan.
Delaware and Delaware State faced each other on the football field in a historic first-ever meeting last November when the Blue Hens downed the Hornets 44-7 at Delaware Stadium in the first round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision.
The Blue Hens, who went 11-4 and advanced to the national championship game last fall, will open the 2008 season Aug. 30 when they travel to College Park to take on the University of Maryland in a game to be televised live nationally on ESPNU.
