NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware football head coach K.C. Keeler announced Monday the one-game suspensions of linebacker Walter Blair and defensive back Anthony Walters.
Blair, a junior from District Heights, Md. (Bishop McNamara High School), has been suspended for this week’s home game vs. William & Mary while Walters, a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa. (Cardinal O’Hara High School), has been suspended for the Oct. 25 game at Hofstra.
The suspensions came about after both players were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct following a party at an off-campus residence early Sunday morning. Walters was also charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
Blair had a team-high 13 tackles and Walters had four tackles and a pass breakup in Delaware’s 27-10 home loss to Maine Saturday night at Delaware Stadium. The Hens fell to 2-4 (0-2 Colonial Athletic Association) heading into into Saturday’s 12 noon Homecoming matchup with William & Mary (3-2, 1-1 CAA).
Walters has started all six games this season and is tied for the team lead with 33 tackles. He also leads the team with three interceptions and has broken up three other passes and forced one fumble.
Blair, who missed two games earlier this season with an ankle injury, has started all four games he has played in this season. He ranks fourth on the team with 27 tackles, including one for loss.
