NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware fans will have the chance to root on the Blue Hen football team at Delaware Stadium this Saturday while also honoring those who serve our country.
The Nov. 7 Colonial Athletic Association football clash between the No. 23 ranked Blue Hens (5-3) and Hofstra University (4-4) at 12 noon will be Armed Forces Day at Delaware Stadium with several special events scheduled to take place in UD’s regular season home finale.
Great seats remain for the game, including special group rates for members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4-H members. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Bob Carpenter Center and Trabant Student Center Box Offices on campus and on-line at www.bluehens.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
Special pre-game attractions will be provided by members of the Armed Forces, including:
• Interactive displays in Delaware Field House from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (entrance by the football practice fields).
• United States Military Academy Four-Cadet Jump Team will rappel the game ball above the field from an Army Blackhawk Helicopter.
• Fly-over of two C-130 aircrafts provided by the Delaware Air National Guard.
During the game, troops will be honored, including the 261st Signal Brigade, a Delaware Army National Guard unit based in Smyrna, Del. In addition, the future leadership of the Armed Forces - the Air Force and Army ROTC cadets - will be in attendance.
In addition to honoring the Armed Forces, Saturday’s game will also mark Senior Day and Hall of Fame Day at Delaware Stadium. The 13 seniors who will playing their final regular season home game at Delaware Stadium will be recognized along with their parents in a pre-game ceremony and the eight newest inductees into the UD Athletics Hall Fame will be introduced at halftime.
