University of Delaware Football Head Coach K.C. Keeler to Host Boys and Girls Club Benefit June 18 at Caffe Gelato

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware football head coach K.C. Keeler will host the Fourth Annual Coach Keeler Boys and Girls Club Benefit Dinner this Thursday, June 18 at Caffe Gelato Restaurant on Main Street.

Keeler and his wife, Janice, will serve as guest chefs at the fundraiser, with part of the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware. The six-course dinner, which includes wine, costs $59 per person with $22 serving as a tax-deductible donation. There is a single seating at 7 p.m. and reservations are required. Among the special guests slated to attend the function is new UD Director of Athletics Bernard Muir.

The six-course dinner includes an appetizer of red snapper ceviche with mango, chervil, roasted poblano and blue corn; a cream asparagus with crispy leeks and sun dried tomato creme fraiche soup; a salad of pulled duck confit, wild rice, baby spinach, shaved red onion, toasted black walnuts, fresh blue berries and goats milk feta tossed in a zinfandel vinaigrette; a lemon sorbet intermezzo; a grilled New York strip steak, morel demi-glace, goat cheese mashed Yukon gold potatoes and warm grilled vegetable salad entree; and triple chocolate brownie with toasted walnuts, bacio gelato and creme anglais for dessert.

Keeler recently completed his seventh season as head coach of the Blue Hen football team. One of the nation’s most successful coaches, he led Delaware to the 2003 NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision national title and to the 2007 NCAA national runner-up finish.
