University of Delaware Football Remains at No. 23 in Sports Network, FCS Coaches Polls

NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware, winners of four of its last five games and coming off a 28-24 victory over Hofstra Saturday, remained in the Top 25 in both The Sports Network and Football Championship Subdivision Coaches polls announced this week.

Delaware (6-3), which will move up a class this week when the Hens take on Navy (7-3) this Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Md., remained at No. 23 in the TSN poll and moved up two spots to No. 23 in the FCS poll.

The Blue Hens also remained at No. 9 in the Meadowlands Lambert Cup Eastern poll this week.

Both the TSN and FCS polls had a new number one team this week following Richmond’s 21-20 loss to Villanova Saturday.

Southern Illinois took over the top spot in the TSN poll with 3,196 points and 37 first place votes while Montana was second with 3,172 points and 64 first place votes. Villanova was third (32 first place votes) followed by Richmond, William & Mary, Elon, Appalachian State, New Hampshire (1), South Carolina State (1), and McNeese State in the top 10. Northern Iowa was at No. 11 followed by South Dakota State, Holy Cross, Eastern Illinois, Stephen F. Austin, Liberty, Jacksonville State, Eastern Washington, Weber State, Lafayette, Prairie View A&M, Florida A&M, Delaware, Colgate, and Texas State.

Montana is the top team in the FCS poll with 16 first place votes followed by Southern Illinois (6), Villanova (6), Richmond, William & Mary, Elon, New Hampshire, Appalachian State, South Carolina State, and McNeese State in the top 10. Northern Iowa is at No. 11 followed by South Dakota State, Eastern Illinois, Holy Cross, Jacksonville State, Liberty, Stephen F. Austin, Eastern Washington, Prairie View A&M, Lafayette, Florida A&M, Weber State, Delaware, Colgate, and Texas State.

In the Lambert Cup poll, Villanova moved ahead of Richmond into the No. 1 spot followed by Richmond, William & Mary, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Pennsylvania, Colgate, Delaware, and Harvard.
