NEWARK,
DE -- University of Delaware football head
coach K.C. Keeler has announced the
addition of Brian McArdle to the Blue Hen
football coaching staff as a graduate
assistant.
McArdle,
23, replaces Michael Marks who served one
year with the Blue Hen staff during the
2003 season before deciding to pursue
other opportunities this summer. McArdle
and Lyle Hemphill will serve as the team's
graduate assistants.
In
his role as graduate assistant, McArdle
will work with film breakdown and exchange
and will have on-field practice
responsibilities with the Blue Hen offense
led by offensive coordinator Kirk
Ciarrocca. McArdle will also pursue a
master's degree in educational leadership
while at Delaware.
A
native of Levittown, PA and a graduate of
Harry S. Truman High School, McArdle was a
standout football player at Ursinus
College in Collegeville, PA where he was a
three-year starter on the offensive line.
He was a three-year All-Centennial
Conference selection, twice as an
offensive tackle and once as a center.
He
made 27 consecutive starts at one point in
his career and during his freshman year
played all five positions on the offensive
line. As a senior he served as co-captain
for head coach Peter Gallagher.
After
earning his degree in 2003 from Ursinus
with a degree in sociology and
anthropology, McArdle began his coaching
career at Delaware Valley College in 2003
for head coach G.A. Mangus and served as
assistant offensive line coach.
