At Delaware: Former walk-on who begins third season at starting safety...team’s top returning tackler...teams with co-captain Roger Brown and fellow junior Rashaad Woodard to give quality experience to a young and talented secondary unit...smart player with good quickness and knowledge of the game...responsible for calling many of the defensive checks and reads...has started all 29 games of his career and posted 172 tackles (109 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss (15 yards), five pass breakups, and three interceptions...owns team’s longest current consecutive starts streak at 29...had five tackles and broke up a pass in the spring game...

2004: Started all 13 games at strong safety for Blue Hen team that went 9-4, won the Atlantic 10 title, and advanced to the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals...ranked No. 2 on the squad with 93 tackles, including 66 solo stops...also recorded five tackles for losses of 10 yards, broke up three passes, recovered one fumble, forced three other fumbles, and intercepted two passes for 40 yards...secondary unit ranked No. 2 in the Atlantic 10 in total defense (299.5) and No. 3 in passing efficiency defense (108.46)...recorded seven or more tackles seven times during the season, including a career-high 11 (all solo) in the season opener vs. New Hampshire...also posted 10 tackles in regular season win over William & Mary, nine vs. Maine, and eight vs. Hofstra, Towson, and Richmond...also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble vs. Richmond...forced a fumble and returned an interception for 40 yards on the last play of the game vs. Villanova...also forced a fumble vs. William & Mary, intercepted a pass vs. Hofstra, and posted two tackles for loss vs. New Hampshire and West Chester....had game-high seven tackles and recovered a fumble in spring game...

2003: Was one of the most pleasant surprises in a season full of them as Hens went 15-1 and captured the NCAA I-AA title...a former walk-on, he earned starting spot at free safety, and a scholarship, just before season opener...joined Haugabrook and linebackers Mondoe Davis and Mark Moore as the only defensive players to start all 16 games...was the only UD freshman who was a regular starter...ranked fourth on the squad in tackles with 79 stops, including 43 solo tackles...had 3.5 tackles for loss, broke up two passes, recovered a fumble, forced a fumble, and intercepted one pass...recorded five or more tackles eight times with career-high 11 to go with a fumble recovery in the triple overtime win over Massachusetts...also had nine stops vs. Maine, eight vs. New Hampshire, and six each in NCAA playoff wins over Northern Iowa and Wofford...intercepted his only pass of the season vs. West Chester and forced a fumble vs. Northern Iowa...had four tackles in spring game...

2002: Did not see action in first season at Delaware and retained freshman eligibility...team went 6-6 in first season under K.C. Keeler...

2001: Played free safety at the Naval Academy Prep School, leading squad to 4-4 record...

Personal: Kyle James Campbell...born Oct. 27, 1982 in Cincinnati, OH...son of Steve and Christine Campbell...has one older brother...civil engineering major at Delaware...has worked as a lot attendant at a car dealership during the summer.
