High School: Three-sport standout in football, basketball, and baseball at Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, DE...four-year letterwinner in football as a wide receiver, safety, and punt returner for head coach John Coveleski...led team to record of 24-8 his final three years and served as captain for 9-2 team as a senior in 2004...earned All-State honors at wide receiver twice, was a three-time All-Henlopen Conference selection, and was named the Lower Gridiron Club Player of the Year...played in Blue-Gold High School All-Star Game at Delaware Stadium...caught 28 passes for 700 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior...won four letters as a centerfielder in baseball...served as captain for two seasons...two-time All-State and three-time All-Henlopen Conference selection...team went 19-3 his junior year in 2004...played two seasons of basketball as a forward...captain as a senior...National Honor Society student.

At Delaware: Redshirt freshman and second-year member of the squad...outstanding athlete with good combination of speed and size...projected to open season as No. 2 wide receiver this fall behind sophomore Aaron Love...caught two passes for 29 yards in Blue-White spring game, including a 20-yard touchdown reception from Jarryd Moyer...2005: Walk-on who did not see game action as a freshman...retained freshman eligibility...team went 6-5 for head coach K.C. Keeler.

Personal: John Blair Newman...born Oct. 29, 1986...son of John and Janella Newman...physical education major at Delaware with a minor in strength and conditioning and coaching...works in golf course maintenance during the summers...enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles in his spare time...has two older sisters...father played quarterback at West Chester in 1972-75...uncle, Roger Post, played linebacker at Delaware in 1969-72.
