High School: Played football and lacrosse and served as captain for both teams at Cape Henlopen High School...two-year letterwinner in football who played linebacker and tight end for head coach Brian Donahue...earned first team All-Henlopen Conference honors at linebacker as a senior...three-year letterwinner as a defenseman in lacrosse...lacrosse team won state titles in 2001 and 2002...earned third team All-State honors as a senior...

At Delaware: Walk-on...third-year team member who continues to show great improvement...will add solid depth to tight end position that includes returning starter Steve Selk, senior Justin LaForgia, and juniors Mike Mailey and Dominic Madigan...

2004: Second-year team member who moved up to No. 4 on depth chart at tight end for team that went 9-4, won the Atlantic 10 title, and advanced to the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals...did not see game action until making his collegiate debut in the Hens’ NCAA I-AA overtime playoff loss to William & Mary...saw action as a second tight end due to injuries to Selk and LaForgia...

2003: Sat out redshirt season and retained freshman eligibility...

Personal: Sean Raymond Sweeney...born Nov. 4, 1985...son of Raymond and Martha Sweeney...has one younger sister...arts and sciences major at Delaware...father, Ray, is an airline pilot and a former Delaware football standout...was an outstanding offensive lineman under head coach Tubby Raymond in 1973-74, leading Blue Hens to 8-4 record and a NCAA playoff berth in 1973 and a 12-2 record and a second place NCAA Division II finish in 1974...earned first team Associated Press All-American honors in 1974.
