High School: Three-year varsity standout at St. Joseph's Prep under head coach Gil Brooks as a defensive lineman and tight end...earned third team Associated Press Big School All-State honors as a senior and honorable mention All-State honors as a junior...earned All-Catholic League honors three times and All-City laurels twice as a defensive lineman...first team All-Catholic and second team All-City as a junior...selected as the Senior Football Player of the Year by the Catholic Standard and Times in 2001...led teams to Philadelphia Catholic League titles in both 2000 (12-1) and 2001 (10-3)...played in prestigious Big 33 All-Star Game...also competed in lacrosse two years.

At Delaware: Former walk-on now in his third season with the Blue Hens after sitting out of football for two years...one of 14 seniors on Blue Hen squad...adds solid support to a deep and talented tight end unit that includes senior returnee Steve Selk, senior Duke transfer Ben Patrick, and sophomore Pittsburgh transfer Robbie Agnone...originally a member of Delaware’s recruiting class but lost interest in football and did not report for camp...attended Delaware in the fall and joined team for the first time in spring drills....did not compete in spring drills while concentrating on academics...2005: Earned second varsity letter as the team’s No. 2 tight end...backed up Steve Selk and saw action primarily in short yardage situations and on kickoff return coverage...appeared in six games in a reserve role...only catch of the season went for eight yards in season finale vs. Villanova...posted a tackle vs. Lehigh in season opener...returned a kickoff 15 yards vs. Holy Cross...missed five games at mid-season due to a hand injury suffered vs. Holy Cross...team went 6-5 for head coach K.C. Keeler...2004: Earned first letter as a backup tight end as Hens went 9-4, won the Atlantic 10 title, and advanced to the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals...saw action in 12 games and made three starts...caught five passes for 44 yards (8.8 avg.) with a long gain of 15 yards...started as second tight end in consecutive games vs. James Madison, Richmond, and Villanova...did not see action in season opener vs. New Hampshire...enjoyed best game vs. Villanova when he caught three passes for 32 yards, including a long gain of 15 yards...also caught one pass for 10 yards vs. James Madison and one pass for two yards vs. West Chester...also returned two kickoffs for seven yards (seven yards vs. James Madison, 0 yards vs. Lafayette)...2003: Attended Delaware but did not participate in football...2002: After being announced in Delaware's 2002 recruiting class in February, decided to attend Delaware but not play football.

Personal: Michael Robert "Mike" Mailey...born May 17, 1984...son of Robert and Carol Mailey...third of four children...economics major at Delaware with a minor in Spanish...works as a caddy during summer....enjoys snowboarding and travelling in his spare time.
