High School: Standout lineman for head coach Fred Stengel at Bergen Catholic High School...capped an outstanding senior season by leading squad to the state championship game...earned first team All-State, first team All-Bergen County, first team All-North Jersey, and first team All-league honors...named to state Super 100 team...team captain...led team to state championship as a junior starter...also was a member of the wrestling team...attended same high school as former UD starting DE Dominic Santoli.

At Delaware: Fifth-year senior on the squad and a three-year letterwinner...versatile and sturdy offensive lineman who can play both center and guard...one of team’s strongest players and one of seven Blue Hen offensive linemen with starting experience...has been hampered by injuries that have forced him to miss multiple games in his career...will battle for starting center spot for the second straight year with junior Jon Herrman...has appeared in 12 career games and started all of them...2006: Earned third career letter...appeared in four games with four starts...battled with Herrman for starting center spot all year...won starting job in pre-season and started opener vs. West Chester before missing Albany game with an injury...returned to starting lineup at right guard vs. Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Northeastern in place of injured Corey Nicholson...when Nicholson returned, moved back to No. 2 spot at center but did not play the final six games of the season...member of an offensive front that helped the UD offense average 26.3 points (No. 4 in A-10), 356.6 total yards (No. 5), and 253.0 passing yards (No. 2) per game...team ranked No. 9 in NCAA I-AA in passing and No. 30 in scoring and total offense...team went 5-6 for head coach K.C. Keeler...2005: Played in just three games - all starts - before suffering a season-ending knee injury vs. Towson...sat out the season opener before taking over starting center spot vs. West Chester, Holy Cross, and Towson...team went 6-5...helped pave the way for All-American running back Omar Cuff and offensive attack that ranked third in the Atlantic 10 and 20th in NCAA I-AA in rushing offense (119.64)...2004: Made a valuable impact on team at mid-season when he took over the starting spot at center when starter Chris Edwards was diagnosed with mononucleosis...led team to 9-4 record, the Atlantic 10 title, and a berth in the NCAA I-AA quarterfinals...earned letter as a redshirt freshman as he appeared in four games, all as a starter...did not see any action until the William & Mary game Oct. 23 when he started in place of Edwards...followed with starts vs. Navy, James Madison, and Richmond...did not see action after Edwards returned...team ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic 10 in rushing offense (279.45)...2003: Sat out as a redshirt to retain freshman eligibility...team went 15-1 and captured the NCAA I-AA national title.

Personal: Mark Gregory Ciavirella (“cav-a-rella”)...born Feb. 1, 1985...son of Mike and Annette Ciavirella...criminal justice major...has an older sister...competes in Strongman competitions during the summer.
