High School: Earned 10 varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and field at Northwestern High School...played quarterback and free safety in football for head coach and father James Cipalla...led team to 17-10 record over the last three seasons...earned second team All-State honors as a defensive back as a senior in 2006...2006 Region 3 Player of the Year...three-time first team all-region defensive back and two-time all-region quarterback...holds school record with 13 career interceptions, including a 107-yard interception return for a touchdown...for his career, rushed for 1,641 yards and 21 touchdowns, threw for 1,502 yards and 13 touchdowns, and recorded 221 tackles (132 solo), 13 interceptions, and 10 pass breakups...competed in track and field and basketball...finished second in the state in the high jump (6-8) and ninth in the 200 meters (22.3) as a junior and was named the district Athlete of the Year...all-region selection in basketball as a sophomore.

At Delaware: Second-year team member who will once again be a key player in a deep and experienced Blue Hen secondary that returns all four starters...will serve in a backup role to free safety Charles Graves, see action as a fifth defensive back in passing situations, and be a key member of special teams...had two tackles in spring game.

2007 Season: Saw action in nine games in a backup role as a true freshman...one of seven true freshmen to see action for team that went 11-4 and advanced to the FCS national title under head coach K.C. Keeler...recorded 14 tackles, including 10 solo stops...had career-high seven tackles vs. Monmouth to earn Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors...added two stops vs. Villanova...one of four defensive backs in 2007 Delaware recruiting class.

Personal: Cody James Cipalla (“suh-paula”)...born March 23, 1989 in Erie, Pa....son of James and Kate Cipalla...undecided on major at Delaware...hopes to become a strength coach or trainer...enjoys playing video games and is an avid weightlifter...father played college football at Mercyhurst (Pa.) College...father is a state trooper...has one older brother...has worked as a landscaper during the summers.
