
High School: Competed in football, basketball, and baseball at nearby Tatnall School in Wilmington, Del....four-year standout wide receiver in football for head coach Jody Russell, a former Blue Hen tight end...earned all-conference and All-State honors...played guard in basketball and earned all-conference honors...played one season of baseball as an outfielder.
At Delaware: Fourth-year team member as a junior...walk-on who earned a partial scholarship during the spring...has played at both running back and wide receiver for Blue Hens...will add depth at running back this fall...looking to bounce back from knee injury in the fall that required surgery and forced him to miss spring drills.
2007 Season: Appeared in just one game, seeing second half action vs. West Chester as a running back...did not carry the ball...tore knee ligaments in practice the following week to end his season...team posted an 11-4 record and a berth in the FCS national title game for head coach K.C. Keeler...caught one pass for five yards in Blue-White Spring Game in April.
2006 Season: Did not see game action as a backup wide receiver...team went 5-6.
2005 Season: Did not see game action and retained freshman eligibility...team went 6-5.
Personal: Michael Steven “Mick” Purzycki...born March 5, 1987...son of Michael and Elizabeth Purzycki...business finance major at Delaware...member of the 2007 CAA Academic Honor Roll...has one sister...works construction during the summer...visited Europe in summer of 2005 and China this past summer...enjoys water skiing...father is a lawyer...father was a standout wide receiver at Delaware in 1963-66, earning first team All-Middle Atlantic honors as a senior and recording 98 receptions for 1,390 yards for his career...uncle, Joe Purzycki, was an All-American defensive back for the Blue Hens in 1966-69 and recorded 13 career interceptions...Joe went on to serve as head football coach at James Madison and Delaware State...cousin, Ted Shea, is a senior holder and deep snapper for the Blue Hens. |
