High School: Played tight end, inside linebacker, and deep snapper at Huntingdon Area High School for head coach Jim Zauzig...team captain...led team to four-year record of 34-11...team went 9-2, won Mountain Athletic Conference title, and was ranked No. 8 in the state in 2006...team was 9-3 and won district title in 2005...2003 team went 11-1, won district title, and was ranked No. 6 in the state...earned third team All-State honors at tight end as a senior and second team All-State honors as a junior...two-time all-conference and all-region selection at both positions...earned conference Scholar-Athlete Award...for his career, caught 57 passes for 765 yards and nine touchdowns and recorded 362 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and three interceptions...caught 17 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns and posted 102 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions as a senior...also recorded 112 tackles as a sophomore and 130 as a junior...caught 15 passes for 142 yards as a sophomore and snared 23 passes for 326 yards and six touchdowns as a junior...four-year varsity performer in basketball and two-year standout in track and field...earned second team all-conference honors in basketball as a senior...two-year team captain in basketball...National Honor Society.

At Delaware: Second-year team member...will once again serve as the team’s deep snapper on placements...could take over full-time deep snap duties on punts if returning snapper Ted Shea is still hampered by back injury...also listed as a tight end on the roster and will add depth to that position...changed number from 49 to 44 in the off-season.

2007 Season: One of seven true freshmen to see game action, joining DE Chris Morales...team posted an 11-4 record and a berth in the FCS national title game for head coach K.C. Keeler...won starting spot on short snaps in pre-season and added deep snapping duties at mid-season due to a back injury to Shea...handled all short snaps during the season and played a key role in Jon Striefsky earning All-American honors...team had just six misses, including two blocks, in 91 placement attempts and no blocks in 49 punt attempts...posted five tackles on punt coverage with single stops vs. New Hampshire, James Madison, Richmond, Villanova, and Southern Illinois.

Personal: Zachary Gilbert “Zack” Reed...born June 9, 1988 in Huntingdon, Pa....son of Rick and Sue Reed...honor student as fitness management major at Delaware...member of the 2007 CAA Academic Honor Roll...would like to become a college strength and conditioning coach after graduation...has worked as a lifeguard at a local pool and as a camp counselor during the summers....both parents are fifth grade elementary school teachers...one of three children...father played college basketball at Penn State-Beaver and Lock Haven...enjoys hiking in his spare time.
