
High School: Outstanding two-way lineman at Tatnall School for head coach and former Blue Hen tight end Jody Russell (1995-98)...also played fullback...attended same high school as current junior Blue Hen wide receiver Mick Purzycki and senior deep snapper/holder Ted Shea...led team to conference titles in both 2004 and 2005...as a junior had 67 tackles, eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries...as a senior, had 51 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries...three-time first team all conference selection...team captain as a junior and senior...played in Delaware Blue-Gold High School All-Star Game at Delaware Stadium in June...named to academic All-State squad...three-sport standout who also earned all-conference honors twice in lacrosse and led the team to three straight state semifinal game appearances, including a trip the championship game in 2006...four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at forward in basketball who led team to a No. 1 state ranking and school’s first state title in 2005-06 under head coach and former University of Delaware standout Anthony Wright...led team to state semifinals in 2004-05...honor roll student and a National Merit Scholar...was home-schooled until ninth grade and never played football until then.
At Delaware: Third-year member of the squad who is hoping to finally see action on the field after an injury-filled first two seasons...hard worker who has good strength and movement on the interior of the defensive line...sophomore who should see significant playing time and could challenge senior Julian James or sophomores Demitrius Hester and Siddiq Haynes for starting spot...expected to be back at full strength after missing all of 2007 season and 2008 spring drills with shoulder injury and subsequent surgery...could also see action on special teams.
2007 Season: Was expected to see playing time on Blue Hen defensive line but suffered shoulder injury in pre-season drills and was lost for the season...team went 11-4 and advanced to the FCS national championship game under head coach K.C. Keeler....registered two solo tackles in spring game.
2006 Season: Did not see game action and retained freshman eligibility...team went 5-6.
Personal: Scott von Duyke (“von duke”)...born May 4, 1987...son of Tim and Kathy von Duyke...one of 12 children, eight of them younger...mother played club rugby while a student at the University of Delaware...honor student as a finance and mass communications major with a minor in economics at Delaware...named to Colonial Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll...sings and plays the violin and was a member of the All-State Chorus and Orchestra in high school....has worked as a landscaper during the summers. |
