High School: Competed in football and track and field at Dover High School...earned three letters in football as a defensive end and offensive tackle under head coaches Carlton Brown and Darwin Manges...led team to 8-3 record and the Henlopen Conference title as a senior in 2005...earned third team All-State honors on defense as a senior...first team All-Henlopen at defensive end and second team offensive tackle as a senior...named team’s Player of the Month three times in career...three-year letterwinner in track and field as shot put and discus specialist...team won state titles in 2003 and 2005...National Honor Society...Tri-Music Honor Society.

At Delaware: Third-year team member after transfer from NCAA Division I FCS member Sacred Heart...walk-on who adds depth to a solid Blue Hen defensive front...projected as a No. 3 defensive tackle behind Justin Johnson and Brandon Gilbeaux to open pre-season camp...strong player who is effective on short yardage and goal-line situations and is rarely out of position.

2008 Season: Walk-on who earned way to a backup role and earned a letter in first season of eligibility...played in six games as a backup at defensive tackle...playing time increased as season went on when he stepped in after injuries to Matt Marcorelle, John Higginson, and Brandon Gilbeaux...recorded 16 tackles on the season (2 solo)...had biggest game in finale when he posted a season-high seven tackles...also had six stops vs. national champion Richmond...had first tackle in UD debut against West Chester.

2007 Season: Did not see action...sat out per NCAA transfer rules...team went 11-4 and advanced to FCS national title game.

At Sacred Heart: Played one season for FCS Division I Northeast Conference school located in Fairfield, Conn.

2006 Season: Earned varsity letter as a defensive lineman for head coach Paul Gorham...team went 2-9 overall...played in nine games and collected 25 tackles, including 11 solo stops...had one tackle for loss.

PERSONAL: Carl Antonie Batson...born March 30, 1988...son of Regina Batson...psychology major at Delaware...worked at Wal-Mart during the summer.
