
High School: Three-sport standout at Manchester High School...four-year member and two-year letterwinner for football team as a fullback and linebacker for head coach Tom Hall...captain as a senior...earned all-district and all-region honors at linebacker as a senior...threw shot put for the indoor and outdoor track and field teams...three-year letterwinner...won shot put title at both the district and regional meets as a senior...competed at the state championships both indoors and outdoors his final two seasons...honor roll student and National Honor Society member.
At Delaware: Second-year transfer from Virginia Military Institute...has sophomore eligibility...came to Delaware as a linebacker but was switched to tight end and returns to defense this fall...will add depth to the linebacker unit.
2008 Season: Saw first action for the Blue Hens after transfer from VMI...was a backup tight end and special teams player and earned a letter...appeared in four games during the season vs. Albany, Maine, Wiliam & Mary, and Villanova but did not record a tackle...moved to linebacker late in the season due to injuries but did not see action at that position....team went 4-8.
2007 Season: Did not see game action due to NCAA transfer rules but did practice with the team...team went 11-4 and advanced to the NCAA FCS national title game.
At Virginia Military Institute: Played one season at FCS member VMI under head coach Jim Reid, a former head coach at UD rivals Massachusetts and Richmond.
2006 Season: Played in 10 games and started contests vs. James Madison and Army for team that posted a record of 1-10 under Reid...posted 29 tackles, including 10 solo stops...also had two tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble...had career-high seven tackles vs. James Madison and added five stops each vs. Coastal Carolina and Army.
Personal: Ryan Christopher Stratis...born Dec. 20, 1982 in Edison, N.J....son of Mike and Donna Stratis...engineering technology major at Delaware...named to 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll...enjoys art and travelling...both parents are graduates of College of New Jersey...both his father and his uncle, Ted, played football at College of New Jersey. |
