High School: Competed in football, baseball, basketball, and soccer at North Penn High School...two-year varsity letterwinner as a kicker and punter in football for head coach Dick Beck...high school teammate of current UD junior offensive lineman Kevin Uhll...team posted two-year record of 25-3 and went 15-0 on the way to winning the state AAAA title in 2003 his junior year...led team to two league titles...two-time all-conference and all-area selection who also earned All-State honors by Pennsylvania Football News as a senior...two-year letterwinner in baseball as a third baseman and pitcher...team went 28-3 in 2004...team won 2005 district title...earned all-area honors at third base as a senior...played one year of basketball and one year of soccer...National Honor Society...active in student government.

At Delaware: Back for third season as the Blue Hens' reliable placekicker...senior who will once again handle placements and will battle true freshman Patrick Murray for kickoff duties...looking to return to his record-breaking All-American form in 2007 when he was almost perfect during the Hens' run to the national title game...numbers went down in 2008 but is still considered one of the top kickers in the Colonial Athletic Association...has played in 28 career games...has converted 92 of 94 extra point attempts (.978) and 28 of 37 field goal attempts (.757) for 174 points over his career...holds Delaware career records for field goal pct. (.757) and field goals over 40 yards (six), season records for consecutive PATs made (53), consecutive field goals made (15), field goals made (21) and attempted (24), PATs made (64) and attempted (67), kicking points (127), and consecutive games with a field goal (9), and a single game mark for field goals (3)...ranks No. 2 all-time at Delaware in PAT pct. (.978 - record if .985 by Mark Drozic in 1990-91), No. 3 in field goals made (28 - 4 shy of record 32 by Sean Leach in 1994-97), No. 6 in kicking points (174 - record is 263), No. 7 in PATs made (92 - record is 167), and No. 7 in field goals attempted (37 - record is 51)...current streak of 34 straight PATs made is the seventh longest streak in UD history...has converted 13 of 15 field goals from 30 yards or less in his career...one of the great stories in college football in 2007 and in University of Delaware football history...former walk-on who had a tough start to his career but worked hard and battled back and became an All-American and one of the nation’s premiere placekickers...called by head coach K.C. Keeler the most improved football player he has seen during his coaching career...was not even expected to see action for Blue Hens but won the starting kicking job in pre-season drills and went on to put in one of the top single season kicking performances in UD history...good athlete who is not afraid to head downfield and make a tackle...has taken on a greater leadership role on team...kicked field goals of 53, 51, 47, 43, and 31 in 2009 spring game.

2008 Season: Although numbers dipped from his record-breaking 2007 All-American season, still had a solid season as the Blue Hens' placekicker and kickoff specialist...earned his second letter as he appeared in all 12 games...was perfect on all 26 extra point attempts and converted 7 of 13 field goals with a long kick of 43 yard vs. Albany...ranked second on the team in scoring with 47 points...had one kick blocked...averaged 59.2 yards on 46 kickoffs and had two touchbacks...also recorded a tackle vs. Massachusetts...extended consecutive extra point string to 34 as he converted all 26 attempts to tie for CAA lead...one of only two kickers in the CAA to convert every PAT attempt...ranked No. 8 in the CAA in field goal pct. (.58) and No. 9 in scoring (3.9 points per game)...converted both field goals and all five extra points for a season-high 11 points vs. West Chester...also converted field goals of 43 yards vs. Albany, 31 vs. Maine, 32 vs. William & Mary, 27 vs. Hofstra, and 28 vs. Towson...longest attempt of the season was a 46-yard miss in the season opener vs. Maryland...selected as a pre-season first team All-American by Lindy’s, Phil Steele’s, and The Sporting News college football preview magazine...tabbed a pre-season first team All-CAA pick in vote by league coaches and by Phil Steele...team went 4-8.

2007 Season: Enjoyed the finest season by a kicker in Delaware football history as he led team to an 11-4 record and a berth in the FCS national championship game...after returning kicker Zach Hobby left school following the 2006 fall semester, beat out true freshman Mike Perry in pre-season drills and went on to record a near perfect season on placements...recognized as one of the nation’s top kickers as he earned first team All-American honors by The Sports Network and by the Associated Press...first kicker in UD history to earn first team All-American laurels...also a first team All-CAA pick...named CAA Special Teams Player of the Week and Blue Hen Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Week vs. James Madison...team’s second leading scorer behind NCAA leader Omar Cuff as he scored 127 points by converting 21 of 24 field goals and 64 of 67 extra points...was perfect on his first 68 kick attempts of the season, converting his first 53 extra points and his first 15 field goal attempts...led the CAA in kick scoring (8.5) and field goals (1.40), was third in scoring (8.5), and eighth in extra point pct. (.955)...tied for NCAA lead in kick scoring, was No. 2 in total field goals (21), No. 12 in field goals per game (1.4), and was 20th overall in scoring...set numerous school records - field goals in a game (three vs. Northeastern and James Madison), field goals in a season (21), field goal attempts in a season (24), extra points in a season (64), extra point attempts in a season (67), kicking points in a season (127), consecutive field goals made (15), consecutive extra points made (53), and consecutive games with a field goals (nine)...season-long 47-yarders vs. Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois are the eighth longest field goals in school history...kicked two or more field goals in a game seven times...tied school record for field goals in a game with kicks of 19, 31, and 37 vs. Northeastern and kicks of 24, 31, and 37 vs. James Madison...hit on five of six field goal attempts in the NCAA playoffs, booting kicks of 46 and 47 yards vs. Northern Iowa and kicks of 24 and 47 vs. Southern Illinois...had already kicked field goals of 20 and 42 yards vs. Richmond but missed 22-yarder that would have won the game in overtime in eventual 62-56 five-overtime setback to Spiders at Delaware Stadium...had season-high eight extra points made vs. Navy and had seven in opener vs. William & Mary...scored 10 or more points in a game five times with season-high 13 vs. James Madison (two shy of UD record)...aggressive kicker who was in on three tackles (vs. Towson, New Hampshire, and Navy) and recovered a fumble vs. Villanova...had a solid spring and was outstanding in spring game, connecting on both extra point attempts and converting six of seven field goal attempts...connected on field goals from 43 and 42 yards in controlled scrimmage.

2006 Season: Second-year backup to sophomore kicker Zach Hobby...was No. 2 on depth chart all season but did not see game action and retained sophomore eligibility...team went 5-6...hit on all four extra point attempts and connected on four of seven field goal attempts with a long of 32 yards in spring game.

2005 Season: One of eight true freshmen to see action for the Blue Hens...walk-on who was thrust into action vs. James Madison Oct. 22 when Hobby was suspended for missing the pre-game meal...game was his only action of the season...handled kickoff duties and missed his only extra point attempt in Blue Hens’ upset win over the defending national champions...team went 6-5.

Personal: Jonathan Edmund “Jon” Striefsky (“stri-eff-ski”)...born Oct. 21, 1986...son of Edmund and Barbara Striefsky...honor student as a finance major at Delaware...named to 2008 CAA Academic Honor Roll...selected as the lone UD athlete to take part in NCAA Student-Athlete Development Conference at Disney World back in May...has a younger sister, Michelle, who is a senior soccer player at Stony Brook...has worked as a landscaper, on grounds crew at White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park in Stanton, Del., and as an umpire for youth baseball during the summer...uncle, James Striefsky, played college soccer at Quinnipiac in 1980-84.
