Graduate Assistant Andy Marino (Offensive Assistant)
Updated 8/18/10
Andy Marino, a former standout player at Lycoming College, was hired as a graduate assistant for the University of Delaware football program in August, 2010.
A native of Feasterville, Pa., Marino takes over for Drew Nystrom, who left to accept a coaching position at the University of Memphis. Marino joins fellow graduate assistant Stephen Thomas and will work primarily with the Blue hen offensive unit.
Marino earned his degree in history and received a secondary social studies education certificate at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. in May, 2009. At Delaware, he will pursue a master’s degree in High Education Administration.
While at Lycoming, Marino was a Dean’s List student and excelled for the football team as an offensive lineman, starting for three seasons and serving as team co-captain as both a junior and senior. He led the squad to the 2008 Middle Atlantic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament and earned the team’s Lee Calistri Award for leadership, determination, dedication, and personal sacrifice for the benefit of the team.
He began his coaching career at Whitehall (Pa.) High School last fall and helped lead the team to a 7-5 overall record and an Eastern Conference championship. He directed scout teams for the offense, coordinated film breakdown, and organized practice drills with the offensive line in practice.
