L 6-45

The No. 11 ranked Delaware Blue Hens continued their pattern of up and down play this year when they suffered a 45-6 loss to No. 12 Richmond. The loss was their worst conference loss since joining what was then the Yankee Conference in 1986. With the loss Delaware drops to 6-4, 3-4 in the Atlantic -10 taking away any playoff aspirations that they might have had coming into the weekend. Delaware scored its only points of the day when Matt Nagy hooked up with Eddie Conti on a 45-yard touchdown pass with 4:32 left in the second quarter to make the score 7-6 at the time. That score was the closest Delaware would get. Richmond behind 182 yards passing, 105 yards rushing by quarterback Jimmie Miles used a balanced attack to dominate the Delaware defense. The Spiders also got 110 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns out of running back Jasper Pendergrass. Nagy went 17-31 for 228 yards and one touchdown pass for the Blue Hens, while Conti had nine receptions and 154 yards on the day. Conti claimed his 24th and 25th Delaware records today when he took over as Delaware's all-time leader in pass receptions and receiving yards. Overall the Blue Hens finished with 263 total yards on the day, more than 400 yards less than last weeks offensive outburst. The Blue Hens were also stalled on drives all day with 6 turnovers, 4 fumbles and 2 interceptions
