Ladden, Swinger Shoot 73s to Lead Hens to 13th Place Team Finish


PRINCETON, NJ -- Seniors Mark Swinger and Mike Ladden each shot a score of 73 to lead the University of Delaware men's golf team to a 13th place team finish at the Princeton University Invitational Saturday at Springdale Country Club.

The tournament was shortened to just 18 holes on Saturday as Friday's first round was cancelled due to heavy rains.

Host Princeton won the team title with a score of 288, seven strokes better than Pennsylvania and Cincinnati in the 24-team field. St. John's and William & Mary tied for fourth place at 297 followed by Seton Hall (300), Lehigh (301), UMBC & Rutgers (302), Villanova and Temple (304), and Columbia (305). Delaware placed 13th overall with a score of 309.

Ladden (Conestoga/Berwyn, PA) and Swinger (Liberty/Warrenton, VA) each shot a two over par 73 to lead the Blue Hens and tie for ninth place overall.

Also for the Hens, sophomore Terry Maguire (Cornwall, NY HS) was next with an 81 while sophomore Jason Phinney (Milton, Mass. HS) fired an 82, and freshman Eric Stepanian (Simsbury, Conn. HS) carded an 84.

Delaware will host the Scotty Duncan Memorial at Hog Neck Golf Club in Easton, MD this weekend.
