Delaware Places 3rd Overall
BERLIN, MD - The University of
Delaware placed two golfers in the top 10 on the way to a
third place team finish at the Ocean City Collegiate Golf
Classic Oct. 22-23 at Eagles Landing Golf Club.
SUNY-Binghamton won the team title with a
score of 614, edging runner-up Wesley by three strokes and
Delaware by five strokes in the 14-team field. Rochester and
host Western Maryland rounded out the top five.
For Delaware, senior Mike Ladden
(Conestoga/Berwyn, PA) led the way with a two-day total
of 75-78=153 to tie for sixth place while freshman Eric
Stepanian (Simsbury/Simsbury, CT) fired a 76-78=154 over
the 6,400-yard par 72 course to tie for ninth
place.
West Chester's Tom Meredith won the
individual title with a score of 72-75=147 to win by three
strokes over Binghamton's Adam Fuchs at
75-75=150.
Also for Delaware, Terry Maguire
(Cornwall/Cornwall, NY) tied for 11th place (74-71=155),
Jason Phinney (Milton/Milton, MA) tied for 25th place
(77-83=160), and Ryan Morrissey (Cheshire/Cheshire,
CT) tied for 36th place (83-80=163).
The Blue Hens will close out the fall
season Nov. 7-8 as hosts of the Caves Valley Invitational in
Owings Mills, MD.
