Blue Hens Capture Second
Title of the Fall; Miller Places

WEST POINT, NY -- The University
of Delaware golf team captured its second tournament title
in three weeks Sunday as the Blue Hens shot a two-day total
of 593 to edge host Army by one stroke and capture the Army
Fall Invitational at West Point Golf Club.
Delaware sophomore Chase Miller
placed second overall, firing a 69 Saturday and a 73 Sunday
for a 36-hole total of two over par 142 over the 6,036-yard,
par 70 course. Miller's 69 on Saturday tied for the third
lowest single round score in UD history and was the lowest
score since Mike Ladden shot 69 at the Georgetown
Invitational Sept. 20, 1998.
Also placing in the top 10 for the Blue
Hens was freshman Devin Milowe who shot 76-73=149 to tie for
10th place.
The tournament title was the second of
the year for the Blue Hens, who captured the Goldey Beacom
Invitational on Sept. 18.
Delaware, which was in second place after
Saturday's first round with a 297 but improved one stroke
Sunday for the total of 593, edging Army (594) by one
stroke. Boston College was third followed by Army Gold,
Bryant, Loyola, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, and St.
Peter's in the 16-team field.
Also for the Blue Hens, sophomore Dan
Spiker (77-76=153) and freshman J.J. Oakley
(75-78=153) tied for 18th place while Jake Korb
(81-74=155) placed 25th overall.
Bryant's Jason Clary took medalist honors
as he shot 68-73=141 to edge Miller by one
stroke.
Delaware will continue its fall schedule
next weekend at the Lehigh Collegiate
Invitational.
